The Ultimate World

This website defines a whole new world.  It is a world where all people work together as a problem solving team to solve all the world’s problems, and to have fun doing it.  It is the world of the future.

Imagine . . . No more wars.  No more violence.  No more poverty.  No more racism.  No more sexism.  No more hate.

At first thought, this all sounds like some sort of dream that can’t happen in the real world.  Well think again, using the ideas expressed in this book, the world can solve all of its problems, and have fun too.  This is because the ideas expressed here are based on science.  The scientific method is carefully followed, and the entire new world is centered around a new scientific theory of this ultimate world.

The title of this new scientific theory is Ultimate World Theory.  Ultimate World Theory, or UW Theory for short, is the scientific theory that solves the world’s problems and saves the world.

The Ultimate World Problem

The ultimate problem facing humans, now and forever, is the problem of survival.  The universe is a very cold, dark and violent place to live, and human survival is by no means guaranteed.  It is as if the same universe that created human life doesn’t care whether we survive it or not.  Fortunately, we were given brains that can figure things out, and we can use these brains to figure out a solution to the human survival problem.

This problem of human survival can be characterized in terms of two types of threats to survival – natural and artificial.  Let us start with the natural threats.  The most obvious natural threat comes from the sun which is heating up over time and will eventually burn out, making life on earth uninhabitable along the way.  We can be reasonably certain about this because the sun is a star similar to numerous other stars in the universe, and behaves similar to these other stars which heat up and burn out over time.  By observing other stars at different points in their life cycle, we can predict the life cycle of the sun with a reasonable amount of accuracy.

See the following chart showing the life cycle of the sun, from its formation as a baby star to its death as a white dwarf, approximately 13 billion years later.  We can see that, unfortunately, life on earth has a limited time.  This chart points out the approximate time for the end of life on earth.  The good news is that this endpoint is about 2.5 billion years from now, which gives us plenty of time to figure out a solution.

Another obvious natural threat to human survival is the limited resources available to support human life in space.  Due to the limited life cycle of the sun, we can be reasonably certain that we are eventually going to need to colonize space, and finding the resources to support large scale human life in space is another major problem.  Food, water, oxygen, shelter, and other survival necessities are not readily available in space.

Other less severe natural threats include space objects such as meteors and asteroids, which can harm the earth and its atmosphere upon impact.  And there is also the threat of a pandemic of infectious disease, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, that can quickly spread across the world.

Now for the artificial threats (also known as anthropogenic threats).  The most obvious artificial threat is the social problem of human conflicts around the world, which manifests itself in terms of war and violence.  These conflicts could escalate and lead to self-destruction of the human species.

And there is a long list of other social problems in the world that need to be solved.  Some of the major ones are poverty, racism and sexism.  Most of these social problems are also conflict related.

A simple way of thinking about the Ultimate World problem is “all the world’s problems.” This simple problem statement of “all the world’s problems” is too vague to be useful, however.  A more specific statement of the problem is required to deal with the problem scientifically, which can then lead to a practical solution.

A more specific statement of the Ultimate World problem is “survive the universe using the minimum resources.”  This more specific statement of the Ultimate World problem is derived directly from the natural threats to survival.  The artificial threats will be dealt with in the process of solving the problems within the natural threats.  This problem solving process is described in detail in Chapter 3 of The Ultimate World textbook entitled “The Practice of The Ultimate World”.

When this problem solving process is performed correctly, optimal problem solving performance will be achieved.  And since the science of happiness shows us that optimal performance and optimal experience (happiness) are directly linked, maximum world happiness will also be achieved.

So, the Ultimate World problem is hereby defined as “survive the universe using the minimum resources.”

The Ultimate World Solution

The Ultimate World problem of “survive the universe using the minimum resources” is an extremely complex problem.  It is actually the most complex problem imaginable to humans.  This is the bad news.

Now for the good news.

The good news is that there is a solution to the Ultimate World problem.  The solution is simple, yet scientific, and is given in the following simple formula:

                        UW = UPMAX

where UP stands for Ultimate Person.  A basic definition of a UP is a person who maximizes problem solving skill over time.  The MAX subscript stands for the maximum possible number of UPs.

Everything in UW Theory stems from this simple, yet scientific formula.  The science underlying this formula is explained in Chapter 2 of The Ultimate World textbook entitled “The Science of The Ultimate World.”
